Our Family Ramblings – Take two posts before bed and call me in the morning

Some General Info

McGrath Family Rig

Our Set up Ready to Roll Out of the Driveway - It will never look the same again

We are a family of 5 consisting of two adults (moderately sane) and three kids circa 6, 8 and 10 years old.  As is the normal around australian adventure story we have chucked it all in, packed up the house, downsized into a car and trailer (packing in too much stuff of course) and set off.  We reckon we can stay civil with each other for about 9 months on the road and are heading North from Sydney to chase the sun.  After we get North, the general direction is likely to be West. (is there any other option?)

Our Rig consists of a 2010 Diesel Prado VX with trinkets including Bull Bar, the winch, snorkel, dual battery, racks and cage and DO35 ball on the tow bar.  Our Trailer is a Complete Campsite Kakadu XT with Boat Rack and a few more niceties.  All in all we are firmly in the class of “all the gear and no idea”.  Stay tuned to see results of training exercises in the coming 9 months!

We are travelling about as fast as you. The ” ash cloud ” has ensured no movement to the Gold Coast this morning and probably none in the near future. The conditions in the Mountains have deterred any movement towards there. The wheels have fallen off all our plans too.
